| Government bond | USD 800,000 | Official |

### Treasury contribution

A one-time, non-refundable payment to the National Treasury. The simplest route, with the lowest entry figure.

- USD 350,000 for the main applicant, not returned (Official, [Ministry of Economy, Argentina.gob.ar, 2 October 2026](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/noticias/luis-caputo-anuncio-la-puesta-en-marcha-del-programa-de-ciudadania-por-inversion-de))
- Funds must move through the formal financial system under anti-money-laundering rules (Official, [Ministry of Economy, Argentina.gob.ar, 2 October 2026](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/noticias/luis-caputo-anuncio-la-puesta-en-marcha-del-programa-de-ciudadania-por-inversion-de))
- Industry advisers expect most applicants to choose this route (Reported, [IMI Daily, 2 October 2026](https://www.imidaily.com/latin-america/argentina-announces-cbi-program-pricing-and-launch-timeframe/))

### Government bond

A purchase of a government bond created for the programme. A larger sum, which the minister described as a zero-rate bond.

- USD 800,000 in a bond issued for the programme (Official, [Ministry of Economy, Argentina.gob.ar, 2 October 2026](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/noticias/luis-caputo-anuncio-la-puesta-en-marcha-del-programa-de-ciudadania-por-inversion-de))
- Described as a zero-rate bond; a seven-year term has been reported but not published (Reported, [Bloomberg Línea, 2 October 2026](https://www.bloomberglinea.com/latinoamerica/argentina/argentina-anuncia-pasaporte-de-oro-para-extranjeros-podran-adquirirlo-desde-los-us350000/))

## Family members (either route)

| Family member | Contribution | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Spouse | USD 100,000 | Married partner of the main applicant |
| Child aged 18 to 25 | USD 100,000 | Single and without children of their own |

Worked example (Main applicant, spouse and two children under 18, Treasury route): Main applicant USD 350,000 + Spouse USD 100,000 + Two children under 18 USD 50,000 = USD 500,000 in contributions, before government fees.

## How an application moves

1. **Prepare** (Pending): Gather identity documents and the paper trail for the money: where it came from and how it reached you. Due diligence starts here.
2. **Apply to APCI** (Official): The application goes to the Agencia de Programas de Ciudadanía por Inversión, the agency created to run the programme.
3. **Due diligence** (Official): APCI requests reports from the intelligence service, the Financial Intelligence Unit, RENAPER, the criminal records registry and the security ministry.
4. **Recommendation** (Official): APCI sends a reasoned recommendation to the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, which grants or refuses citizenship.
5. **Invest and naturalise** (Pending): The contribution or bond is completed, citizenship is granted, and the applicant can then apply for an Argentine passport.

## What the programme offers

- **Citizenship, not residence:** The programme grants naturalisation itself, not a residence card to renew. Argentina allows dual citizenship. ([Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina, 29 May 2025](https://www.boletinoficial.gob.ar/detalleAviso/primera/326096/20250529))
- **No residence requirement:** The amended law grants citizenship for a relevant investment whatever the length of residence. ([Boletín Oficial de la República Argentina, 29 May 2025](https://www.boletinoficial.gob.ar/detalleAviso/primera/326096/20250529))
- **No automatic tax residence:** Ley 27.802 says naturalisation by investment does not by itself make you tax resident in Argentina. ([Abeledo Gottheil Abogados, 18 March 2026](https://abeledogottheil.com.ar/ley-27-802-ciudadania-por-inversion-y-residencia-fiscal/))
- **Family included:** A spouse and children up to 25 can be added, each with their own contribution. ([Ministry of Economy, Argentina.gob.ar, 2 October 2026](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/noticias/luis-caputo-anuncio-la-puesta-en-marcha-del-programa-de-ciudadania-por-inversion-de))
- **Mercosur access:** Argentine citizens benefit from residence arrangements across much of South America. ([IMI Daily, 2 October 2026](https://www.imidaily.com/latin-america/argentina-announces-cbi-program-pricing-and-launch-timeframe/))
- **A G20 economy:** The government presents the programme as part of opening Argentina to investment. ([Reuters, 2 October 2026](https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/argentina-announces-citizenship-by-investment-program-2026-10-02/))

## What is not settled yet

- **The courts are reviewing the decree:** Two federal appeal courts ruled against DNU 366/2025’s citizenship chapter in June 2026 (Volosh, 18 June; Yang Liping, 30 June), in individual cases that were not about investment. The government has appealed to the Supreme Court, whose decision is pending. - **Repeal bills in Congress:** Opposition deputies filed bills in October 2026 to remove the investment route from the citizenship law. ([Chequeado, 9 October 2026](https://chequeado.com/el-explicador/ciudadania-argentina-por-inversion-de-que-se-trata-el-programa-de-milei-para-extranjeros-y-por-que-la-justicia-lo-cuestiona/))
- **The rules are still to come:** Fees, processing times, the bond’s terms and the forms have not been published. Totals quoted today are the announced contributions only.
