# Argentina CBI Cost Breakdown: Every Figure for 2026

Every announced cost of Argentine citizenship by investment, family totals on both routes, what the bond may cost you, and the fees still to be published.

Facts last checked: 2026-10-14

**Short answer:** the main applicant pays a **USD 350,000** non-refundable contribution to the National Treasury, or buys a **USD 800,000** government bond. Each family member adds a fixed amount: **USD 100,000** for a spouse, **USD 100,000** for each single child aged 18 to 25 without children, and **USD 25,000** for each child under 18. Government fees have not been published, so these are contributions, not totals.

## Quick summary

| Household | Treasury route | Bond route (reported) |
|---|---|---|
| Single applicant | USD 350,000 | USD 800,000 |
| Couple | USD 450,000 | USD 900,000 |
| Couple and one child under 18 | USD 475,000 | USD 925,000 |
| Couple and two children under 18 | USD 500,000 | USD 950,000 |
| Couple, one child under 18, one child aged 18 to 25 | USD 575,000 | USD 1,025,000 |

The Treasury column follows the Ministry of Economy's published amounts; its four-person total matches the ministry's own example. The bond column assumes, as IMI Daily reports, that the bond covers the main applicant only and family contributions are paid on top. That assumption is not yet in official text.

## How the amounts were set

DNU 366/2025 lets the Ministry of Economy define the "relevant investment" that qualifies for naturalisation. The ministry did so on 2 October 2026. Its release says all funds must move through the formal financial system under anti-money-laundering rules, and that the proceeds will strengthen the country's fiscal and financial position.

## Route 1: the Treasury contribution

- **Amount:** USD 350,000 for the main applicant.
- **Returned?** No. It is a contribution, not an investment you hold.
- **Who chooses it:** industry advisers quoted by IMI Daily expect about 70 percent of applicants to take this route.

## Route 2: the government bond

- **Amount:** USD 800,000 in a bond created for the programme.
- **Interest:** the minister called it a zero-rate bond, according to Bloomberg Línea.
- **Term:** a seven-year term with principal returned at maturity has been reported by IMI Daily and Bloomberg Línea. The terms are not published.

### What the bond costs you

A zero-rate bond costs what the money would have earned elsewhere. As an illustration only: if you could otherwise earn 4 percent a year, USD 800,000 held for seven years without interest gives up roughly USD 250,000 in compound returns. Your own figure depends on your alternatives and on the bond's published terms, and the bond's value at maturity depends on Argentina's ability to repay.

| | Treasury contribution | Government bond |
|---|---|---|
| Cash out at the start | USD 350,000 | USD 800,000 |
| Returned later | Nothing | Principal, if terms are as reported |
| Main cost | The contribution itself | Lost returns and repayment risk |
| Best for | Applicants who want the lowest outlay | Applicants who want capital back and can wait |

## Costs still to come

According to the official announcement and industry reporting, these have not been published:

| Cost | Status |
|---|---|
| Government application and processing fees | Pending |
| Due diligence charges | Pending |
| Passport issuance fees | Pending |
| Bond terms | Pending |

Professional fees for lawyers and advisers come on top and vary by firm. Ask for them in writing before you start.

## Common mistakes

1. **Quoting the old USD 500,000 figure as the minimum.** It came from May 2025 and is now the four-person family total.
2. **Treating the bond as free.** Its cost is the return you give up and the risk you carry.
3. **Budgeting contributions only.** Fees are still to be published.
4. **Assuming the bond covers your family.** Reports say it does not.
